Quite a few of us out last night at the Club's weekly "official" meet. While it is nice that there are so many people out, there is a downside. That is the more novices or inexperienced climbers there are, the fewer climbing venues open to us.

After all, it would be rather silly to take a large and inexperienced group to Pavilland. The routes there are a little more serious than many other places on Gower and it is rather remote. I for one don't fancy looking after novices at such a place and I think if other experienced club members would reflect awhile, they'd feel the same way.

Anyway, as I said it was a large group. We went to Tor Bay and so we had quite a few possibilities open to us. Easy v.diffs and severes on Little Tor itself and a smattering of VS's on West Tor and Little Star Wall.

Llio did her first outside lead on Central Flake (and did it very well). Gary did his first lead too. I didn't see him do it but by he seems to have enjoyed it. Gwyn lead some E1's and others flitted from crag to crag doing whatever took their fancy. A very relaxed and very enjoyable evening.

And that's just what it's all about!
