I know I've said it before and I just can't help saying it again. The weather in South Wales is truly awful this time of year! From late September to April the days are usually grey, wet, windy and dark. How I long for the beautiful crisp and very cold winters we had in Switzerland. Even Essex winters are lovely in comparison to the winters here. I remember in Switzerland there would be weeks where the temperature rarely got over -10 degrees celsius. On one Sunday morning it got down to -27 ! Sue had to get up at around 06.00 to walk a mile to catch a bus into work. I was worried for her so I got up too. It was perfectly still that morning and completely quiet. Ice formed in our nostrils and any exposed flesh on our faces became quite numb. Believe it or not, that sort of weather is 10 times more pleasant than the weather we have had in Swansea today. It's been 10 degrees, steady drizzle and winds gusting up to around 30mph. Going outside is miserable. Summer is usually only slightly better. They say here, "the difference between Summer and Winter in Swansea is that in Summer, the rain is a bit warmer". I find it difficult to laugh at this.
