Après Climbing on Gower

OK... so here is a list of some of the pubs on Gower suitable for après-climbing. Some of the fields in the table have been left blank as we are of course still busy researching all this!

Pub Ambience Beer Food Notes
The Joiners - Bishopston * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Good all-round pub. Brews its own beer. Ample parking and serves adequate food. A no-nonsense locals' pub. Close to Pennard, Three Cliffs. In fact, it's worth driving to from most Gower climbing venues.
The Valley - Bishopston * * * * * * * * * * * * * Friendly locals' pub. The posher of the two pubs in Bishopston, this one also has very good food. More of an eating pub really. Opposite the Joiners Arms. The pubs seem to "un-officially" merge into one during the warm summer evenings.
The Gower Inn * * * * * * Gone downhill in the last year or so. Awful decor and rather uncomfortable. In summer it is packed with holiday makers and their families.

Don't expect to be able to buy nuts/crisps on a mid-week summer evening. Beer can sometimes be scarce too.
King Arthur Hotel - Reynoldston * * * * * * * * * * * Quite good food, Sunday lunches, etc. Pleasant atmosphere although decor is a little bit "twee" e.g. odd farming and fishing implements attached to walls and ceiling.
The Brittania - Llanmadoc * * * * * * * * * * * Nice pub. Good Sunday lunches and a pleasant outside eating area. Pool table.
The Worms Head Hotel - Rhossili * * * *

But see note
* * * ? Spectacular location. Go there on a mid-week summer evening before the school holidays and you'll probably have the place (and view) to yourself!

Not much going for this place except for the view.
The Railway Inn - Upper Killay * * * * * * * * * * ? Locals' pub. Sells beer brewed at "the Joiners Arms" and soon to be brewed on-site. Excellent truly authentic pub.
The Beaufort Arms - Kittle * * * * * * * * * * * * Used to be topnotch in the food department! But have not visited it for some time.
The Ship Inn - Oxwich * * ? Needs tasteful redecoration. Needs new clientele. This may have happened in recent years.
